Day 11 and we gained weight!

Yes, I have too, but that’s not to be celebrated! (Thanks Kym!)

The scale dude (I don’t know what else to call him, he shows up daily with the scale, so it fits-right?) weighed her in this morning and she was up!  Not a lot, but it’s a good trend!

We keep pulling on her hair to see if it gives… Nope!  She even has stubborn Deisz hair!  We are trying to keep this topic open to discussion and playful as it is beyond our control so we want her to know she is beautiful beyond her hair!  AngelHair is making her hair piece right now, it is going to be gorgeous, they informed me that these are not your regular “wigs” that these are custom fitted, fancy this, fancy that, they lost me after telling me the retail cost is $2600!  We have talked about this subject a lot and she’s thinking in the summer she may just run around without hair or hat and not worry about who looks as she knows they are just curious to see someone who looks different.  She is so mature beyond her years, this kid never ceases to amaze me!

Big thanks to AngelHair for the sweet and generous Angels who donate to this amazing cause!

Danielle had to have another platelet transfusion this morning, so if any of you have ever considered donating platelets, please do so.  These incredible donations make it possible for people like Danielle to heal and fight this disease and many more.

Day 10 (uneventful) of chemo and LAST round! 😛

Today Danielle was weighed and has lost a total of 8 lbs… Not good!!!

So mom has made it her mission to get some weight on her girl!  Dad did a great job discovering bacon was a hit, so we’re trying to find anything bacon!  She is also a candy bar nut, uncle Dave and Kym brought a huge bag of quarters, so mom emptied out the vending machine of Kit Kat bars!!!  Danielle is eating them and making everyone happy!  Who would’ve thought that eating bacon and candy bars would be highly encouraged by doctors and nurses!!??

What a crazy new life we live!  image

Mom’s friend Kelli called the Children’s Cancer Association and requested a chemo pal sent up to Danielle and she showed up yesterday… Her name is Amy and she spent several hours with Danielle last night, it was an instant hit!  She was asking me today when Amy will be back…. I’m guessing Dad and I are not as exciting! 😢😜 She and Amy taught themselves to do Origami, here are a couple of their creations, I think they are bunnies and a canary ?

We have gotten through the first ten days of this crazy month at Doernbechers, I would like to point out the incredible doctors, nurses and volunteers up here who have made this as comfortable and easy as possible and we are very grateful for all that they are doing.  Thank you to all of you out there who are praying, crossing fingers/toes and holding positive thoughts towards Danielle’s quick recovery.  We love and appreciate you too.

Day 9 of chemo 4/26

Morgan stayed with Danielle last night so this is what we saw this morning when showing up at the hospital:

I think these sisters had a good night together!  Morgan is really keeping her spirits up and encourages Danielle to work hard to beat this!  The nurse unhooked her IV for a few hours today and she and I snuggled on the window seat image image

I love this little lady!  She’s very special.

Devons first visit

Devon finally drove up to Doernbechers with Grandma Sandi and Aunt Dani today to visit Danielle in the hospital.  The kids were so excited to see one another, they got a little silly!! imageimageDevon couldn’t go into the ward imagedue to strict contamination rules (they are smart, he is a very germy little man) so tried talking to her thru the glass, when that didn’t work he told me to write her a letter as he dictated what to write…. Ps.  My dictation skills are not off, he just talks to hear his voice!

finally, he decided to show his love to sissy by drawing her a picture of a monster…. Little brothers!  Gotta love ’em!image
